Single chip magnetometer sensors like anisotropic magneto-resistors (AMRs) are rugged devices that can tolerate the vibration and high temperatures in a downhole drilling environment. We are tailoring the devices for downhole navigation and EM induction applications. Both applications lend themselves to steering and obstacle avoidance (an underground cavern for example).
The circuit board for the GPR technologies described above GPR are small enough to be deployed on borehole and directional drilling equipment. We are experimenting with new applications for GPR such as object detection and geosteering for horizontal drilling.
